Name: Mistress Maol Mide ingen Medra OL, OP

    MKA: Kristen Gilpin

About the artist: Maol is a 10th century daughter of a
wealthy family of Northern Ireland who did not mind their
youngest daughter learning to read and write at the
local monastic scriptorium. Her love of the written word
drove her toward the arts of calligraphy and illumination
so that she could present written works as beautifully as
possible. Maol greatly enjoys long days in the garden
    and the observation of butterflies.

Specialties: Any calligraphy and illumination I can get
my hands on but I especially enjoy working with the Mira
    calligraphiae monumenta's challenging realism and
diverse calligraphic hands. Pieces in this style are truly
my favorites. The Armenian Gospels of Gladzor is
another favorite of mine as I find the architectural
geometrics to be incredibly challenging but well worth
    the frustration.
