Scribe-a-thon: Contest Information

    Start Date: Fall Coronation 2009

    Duration: Illuminations must be turned in by the College of Scribes
    meeting at Martinmass Moot, 2009

    How to Enter: Create an advanced illumination based upon a medieval
    illuminated page.

    Requirements:
  • To qualify, illuminations must be at least a three or four-sided border
    or equivalent thereof.
  • All pieces must be submitted on Bristol Board, Pergamenata, or
    similar art papers. Faux parchment and printer paper are not
    accepted due to their acidic qualities.
  • Pieces are requested to be illumination only and calligraphed pieces
    will not be accepted for this competition.
  • Medieval inspiration piece should be listed with scribe's name on the
    back of the scroll.
  • Scribes are highly encouraged to blog about their work process on
    the Trimaris Arts and Sciences and Trimaris Scribes social networks.

    Submitting Work: All pieces must be turned into the Chart Signet, HL
    Bres, at or before the Scribes Meeting at Martinmas Moot

    Determination of Winners: A panel of Laurels has volunteered to blind
    jury the submitted pieces. An online gallery will be created of all pages
    submitted and each judge will select their favorite 5 entries. Judges will not
    have access to the name of the scribe submitting the work and will only see
    the front of the illumination. Each illumination will be entitled as "Inspired
    by (medieval work, folio number)". Once voting has concluded winners will
    be announced on the College of Scribes email group, Trimaris Arts and
    Sciences network and Trimaris Scribes networks. Prizes will be distributed
    at an event after the winners have been determined.

    Prizes?: Of course... there are always prizes. A prize will be awarded to
    the top 10 chosen works.
